How to use "Stream from PlayStation" / "Aircast DNS"

How to Stream from PlayStation Using Aircast Custom DNS

Aircast lets you stream from your PS4 or PS5 to multiple platforms at once — no capture card or PC needed. To make this work, you change a small network setting on your PlayStation called DNS.

If your stream shows up on Twitch but not in Aircast after setting this up, it's almost always your router overriding the DNS setting — not your PlayStation.

What Does DNS Do Here?

Think of DNS like a phone book for the internet. Normally, your PlayStation looks up Twitch's address and streams directly there. By entering Aircast's DNS servers:

  • Primary DNS: 37.16.8.45
  • Secondary DNS: 37.16.17.132

...your console asks us for that address instead. We point it to our servers, and from there we send your stream to Twitch, YouTube, Kick — wherever you want.

Everything else on your PlayStation (games, downloads, Netflix, PSN) works exactly the same. We only redirect the streaming part.

Why Isn't It Working?

Most internet provider routers have a hidden feature that forces all devices to use the ISP's own DNS, no matter what you set on your PlayStation. Your settings are correct — the router is just ignoring them.

This is especially common with routers from Comcast/Xfinity, AT&T, Sky, Virgin Media, BT, and Vodafone. Security features like Xfinity Advanced Security, Eero Secure, Avast Real Site, and router parental controls can also cause this.

How to Fix It

Instead of only setting DNS on your PlayStation, set it on the router itself so it can't be overridden.

  1. Open a browser and go to your router's settings page (usually 192.168.0.1  or 192.168.1.1  — check the sticker on your router)
  2. Log in with the credentials on your router's sticker
  3. Find the Internet, WAN, or DNS settings
  4. Enter Primary DNS 37.16.8.45  and Secondary DNS 37.16.17.132
  5. Save and restart your router

This is safe for all your devices — Aircast's DNS only redirects the Twitch streaming address, nothing else.

> Tip: Keep the Aircast DNS on your PlayStation too. Having it set in both places gives the best results.

Option 2: Disable Security Features That Block DNS

If your router or software has security or parental control features, try turning them off temporarily to see if that fixes it. Common ones to check:

  • Xfinity Advanced Security — turn off in the Xfinity app under My Services
  • Sky Broadband Shield — turn off at sky.com/broadbandshield
  • Virgin Media Web Safe — turn off in your Virgin Media account under My Apps
  • Eero Secure — disable in the Eero app under Discover
  • Avast Real Site — toggle off in Avast settings under Protection
  • Router parental controls — check your router's admin panel

Option 3: Use Your Own Router

If your ISP's router won't stop overriding DNS, the most reliable fix is to put it into bridge mode (modem-only) and connect your own router instead. Standard routers from TP-Link, ASUS, Netgear, etc. won't interfere with your DNS settings.

Don't Want to Deal with DNS?

You can skip DNS entirely and use the "Stream with Twitch" option in Aircast instead. Your PlayStation streams to Twitch normally, and Aircast picks it up from there to send to your other platforms.

The trade-off is a small amount of extra delay and your stream will always appear on Twitch first — but it works on any network with zero configuration.
